Comparison steals your joy
Did you know that comparison steals your joy? Have you ever scrolled through social media (pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and started to compare yourself to unrealistic pictures of skinny women, careers that always seem more fulfilling than your job, boyfriends and husbands who seem to be super romantic, homes that are bigger than your tiny apartment and the list goes on……
I want to encourage you to with three simple words – Your life matters! Did you know that your life, beautiful body (no matter color or shape), relationships, home, and career all have purpose on this Earth.
You have a wonderful purpose to fulfill on this Earth. If you have chosen to work in the household staffing field, then you have a high-calling on your life because you are truly impacting the ones you serve on a daily basis.
Please hear me out – Stop spending so much time on social media comparing yourself to other nannies who may seem happier in their jobs and “social media influencers” who purposely submit perfect content and pictures that are simply unattainable. A life of perfection is NOT what it seems to the one who is producing the content. It’s all a facade to draw you in and if you are not careful, content (in a state of peaceful happiness). and thankful, then you can easily fall into the trap of comparison. Its easy – really easy to buy into the “lie” and start believing all of your daily hard work doesn’t matter and no one sees you. I want to encourage you to give your all and do your best everyday. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing or not doing right now.
Tip:
Try following “influencers” or friends who encourage you and help you to become a better person in life and in your career. If you find yourself in the comparison trap, then grab a piece of paper and start jotting down all of the awesome things in your life that you can be thankful for right now.
Need a little help? Are you reading this blog? Write down that you are thankful to have eyes that can see, ears that can hear, legs that can walk, hands that can work and provide care for others and the list goes on….There is always something to be thankful for in this life – Having the most expensive handbag on Instagram is not one of them!
